I wanted to take a moment and talk about how much I've been inspired by you guys who reach out to me and ask me about fashion and blogging. Honestly, when it comes to blogging, I'm a newbie myself. Not even sure what I'm doing. All I know is that I'm having fun! I love having a space where I have a voice to speak my mind about whatever it is I want, and showcase my personal style. It's really a form of art, and I take pride in putting out things I'm proud of. My opinions are my own and my blog Is defiantly not where I want it to be as far as esthetic, design etc etc. I chose to just plunge into this organically and let it evolve overtime.
Thank you to those that saw something in me and followed my Life + Style journey, and thank you for all the kinds words and encouragement I get with every post. You guys are truly amazing and seriously, it keeps me going!
So recently I was asked what my opinion is about the fashion industry and breaking into the business. Hmm, Actually I was pretty honored to even be asked this. That you think I'm even qualified to answer is a huge compliment. But truthfully I myself have a looooong way to go and I'm always learning something new. But what I can say is, BE YOURSELF! Don't try to hard or try to be someone your not. Be humble and approachable. Never think your better than anyone else because we are all in this together and have the same universal love of playing dress up. The fashion world is saturated with talent, and it's hard to stick out. But what I can say is if you love it, continue doing what your doing and eventually people will take notice.
Here are some tips that I follow when it comes to Insta Blog/blogging and I believe work.
Don't Stress: I never think I'm better or over stress about posts. I feel like if you have an idea you want to share with the world, or you have something to say, you shouldn't feel like your in a rat race with the rest of the thousands of bloggers to be the first to publish it. Everything has been done. Everything. It's just putting your own unique spin on a look or topic, is what keeps things interesting.
Engagement: Engaging with your audience is important. It makes you more approachable and connecting with people that share the same passion is amazing! It can get tricky trying to keep up when you have other priorities, but I try and respond to everyone's comments. Having a full time job and being a mommy to two babes, it becomes the last thing on my to do list. I won't be on my phone for long periods of time since I don't want my kids to feel like what they have to say or show me isn't important because mommys face is glued to a tiny screen. So usually right before bed, when the kids are already asleep, is when I like to catch up on IG. I usually knock out holding the phone! Haha. So, sorry if I miss your post or don't respond. But I do read everyone's comments (thank you) and trust me when I say I have the best intentions to write you back.
Consistency: Yes being consistent is what attracts new followers (I hate that word) but you shouldn't ever be stressed about creating content. It should just come from within that creative soul, otherwise it's not fun anymore. But I do understand we all get those moments when your in a creative and uninspired funk. In those cases take a break. It's ok to unplug for awhile and collect yourself.
Imagery: When I started my Instagram, my photos were not at all what they are today. That also has evolved organically and my favorite part of this whole thing is editing. I loooove playing with the look and feel of a photo. When you put out content your proud of, people will notice. Yes I'm going to insert a cliché quote, but Harry Winston said it best, "People will stare. Make it worth their while!" I actually think about this quote every time I edit a photo. If it's not inspiring me In some way, I believe it won't inspire you so I won't put that out there.
Lastly don't get discouraged when your not receiving the feedback you'd hoped for or your not getting the traffic you thought you would. I know what you feel when you say, "I've put in so much work and it's not getting recognized." Remember why you started in the first place. Your doing this because you LOVE it. If you wanted to become internet famous, then I don't know what to tell ya, because the competition is fierce!
I hope I have inspired some of you and thank you once again for inspireing me!
